Born in Aberdeen, Scotland and has lived in both Ottawa and Vancouver and now resides in West Vancouver.

Alan is a chartered accountant who expresses his creative energies through the art of photography and is now a freelance photographer specializing in travel, dance, event and fine art photography.

Moving on from his earlier darkroom work and he now uses primarily professional Canon digital equipment.  He has developed and instructed courses in digital imaging at community centres in West and North Vancouver and at other organizations.

He is a member of several local photography clubs, a member of the National Association of Photoshop Professionals and a member and past Director of the Canadian Association for Photographic Art (CAPA).

His photographic interests are varied and he continues to explore new horizons.  Form, shape and texture and the subtleties of light spark his creative vision whether it be of landscape, architecture or people. 

He has successfully exhibited many of his prints, has won awards and been published.  Alan travels extensively covering a variety of locations including South America, Europe, the Middle East, Asia and the Western USA.  Images captured during these trips form the basis for much of his visual artistry.  Alan takes a keen interest in the people, activities, customs and history of the many different countries visited and with the assistance of his wife, Caroline, carefully records his travels and creates meaningful travelogues based on these.
